Arsenal lalu sempat kalah dari Liverpool di pekan ketiga Liga Inggris, namun sukses balas dendam dengan menyingkirkan Liverpool dari ajang Piala Liga. Arsenal kalah dari Manchester City dan Leicester City tetapi bisa mencuri kemenangan saat melawan Manchester United.
Catatan itu membuat Arsenal mengumpulkan 12 poin dari tujuh pertandingan. Sejatinya jumlah tersebut cukup lumayan meski tak bisa dibilang istimewa, mengingat jadwal berat yang dijalani ‘The Gunners’ di awal musim. Namun petaka justru datang di tujuh laga berikutnya.
Di saat Arsenal seharusnya bisa meraup banyak poin mengingat sejumlah lawan memiliki kualitas di bawah mereka, tim asal London Utara tersebut justru terlilit dalam krisis.
Arsenal hanya sanggup meraup dua poin dari 21 poin maksimal yang bisa didapat oleh mereka. Di luar Tottenham Hotspur dan Everton, tim macam Burnley, Wolverhampton, dan Aston Villa juga bisa pulang dengan tiga poin dari laga lawan Arsenal.
